The service was excellent. People were kind and nice attitudes. Food - not so hot. Literally. Went in ordered 3 scrambled eggs with cheese bacon and American fries which were supposed to have onion in them / they didn’t. I could have spent 50.00 and made this all myself and at least got full off of it. Got biscuits and gravy and wasn’t satisfied with the gravy at all… wasn’t barely any sausage in it. Servings were very chincy. Not a lot of food for 53.00 / I’ll pass next time! Maybe put some more food on the plate for the customers money you take and you may have some more business! Pretty much got 3 kids breakfast plates and might as well suggest mine being a breakfast plate too.

I came in here in the middle of my workday for lunch with a work partner of mine. We didn’t know they were cash only until we got there, which is fine, so we went and got cash out. We came back, sat down. Honestly, the service was great from the start. I was pretty impressed, and when the food came out, it tasted great as well. Here’s why I left one star. My work partner is vegetarian, and the server had no issue with that, but when she put the order in we could hear all the cooks complaining about it. Again, mostly a non issue, she wasn’t upset. However, before paying our bill, one of the young cooks was up front talking with our server and two customers at a nearby table, making VERY loud, noticeable jokes/comments making fun of gay people. This is a multitude of comments as well, it lasted nearly 5 minutes straight. It was my first time ever being to this restaurant, and purely because of that, I’ll never be back. Extremely disappointing to say the least, because the food and service was amazing up until then, and I’m just starting out working in Syracuse so I would have made it my go-to lunch stop. I’ve recently partnered with the Town of Syracuse and will be sharing my experience with them as well, as I’m sure that’s not how they’d like the town to be represented. Especially from a home-town cafe where every customer matters. Please teach the employees to keep inappropriate/disrespectful conversations to where customers can’t hear them.

What a gem in the rough this place is. The best corned beef hash I have enjoyed in a long time. All of our food was hot and served to order with a smile. The recommendations made by Carrie our server did not disappoint in the least. Bottomless coffee carafe, replaced at ur table every time she passed by. Prices were very reasonable and portions were satisfying. This cash only business is a place not to be missed when passing through the town of Syracuse. Plenty of parking, great ‘diner’ atmosphere, filled with locals who call this home. Overall excellent in my opinion.

No healthy menu options. I ordered a Florentine omelet after asking server about the spinach (only green vegetable in the menu). She said it was fresh. It was chopped up and mixed with the eggs and was old and brown looking. Lots of locals saying ignorant things loudly. I was hungry but left in search of better food and atmosphere .
Service was terrible too.
Asked for real butter on side for toast. She brought that but also brought toast with marerine already on it. Could not get servers attention to address anything. Did not even bring juice I ordered. Juice was in bill. I just paid and left. Cheap quality food at cheap prices. Local gossip hole.
I was hopeful for a great experience as my other experiences with the town were all great.

Portions are smaller than most places and biscuits and gravy was a little bland for our taste. Grilled ham n cheese was on point. Cute restaurant and great staff. Pricing was very reasonable.

In response to Blakely's mixed review.....as a lifetime patron of the Syracuse Cafe, not only can I attest to the great quality of the food and service at this establishment I can promise you the staff here are amazing and caring people. As one of the patrons that was a part of the aforementioned conversation you overheard, if you were truly listening you would have realized we were more making fun of people that are homophobic. We discussed the ridiculous "signs" that people say "show" one would be gay such as no show socks and pierced ears...like...what In today's world where everyone shows their personalities on their sleeves and people express themselves unapologetically We also discussed how awful it was that the servers son was ridiculed at school for piercing his ear. Each and every person in that conversation that day has gay friends and family they love and adore. Gay people have worked there before. Gay people eat there all the time. Your blatant, arrogant eavesdropping interpretation of that conversation is disappointing. Do better, sir. Syracuse Cafe will remain a staple in this community for years to come because they have great staff, fair prices and amazing customer service.

Trueist Cafe / Diner I've been to in a long long time. Small dining room, limited menu. Great food. Karrie was a joy as hostess and waitress.
