I discovered this place during my senior year at IU. Every time I went, I would get an oatmeal cream pie and try a new item. Every time the oatmeal cream pie was amazing while the other item wasn’t. Now coming back after such a long hiatus I knew I only needed one thing. I went ahead and bought three out of the six pies (crazy they only make so few). I’m not sure if the owner or the recipe changed, but the pies looked different. I remember the cookies being thinner and smaller, but I could be wrong. The edges were crispier than the softer inside, but overall a good tasting cookie. The cream in the middle was fantastic, but a little less creamy then I remember. Good amount of sweetness, but would have loved a better ratio of cream to cookie. Even though they are vegan you would never be able to tell except for in the prices ($7 each). Highly recommend checking this place out and trying their oatmeal cream pie and anything else that looks appealing.

Super cute corner bakery! The gentleman working was watering flowers outside🥹 and was attentive and super helpful! The treats are delicious and moist! I was recently diagnosed with an egg allergy, so I'm missing out on a LOT of baked goods I used to love. Highly recommend going!!

I haven't been to Rainbow Bakery in almost a year, but this morning I decided to treat myself to a warm breakfast and came in for a hand pie! The hospitality was wonderful and the employee working the counter took the time to make sure I had everything I would need. My samosa hand pie (fresh from the oven!), lavender lemonade, and sample of the pumpkin cake were all delicious. I'm so happy I came in!

This is the kind of place that you go to & never stop frequenting. First of all, the staff are BEYOND kind. They offered recommendations, explained the menu, and even offered free snacks to take home. Second of all, the food & menu just speaks for itself. SO GOOD. They have some classic items, but the *really* good stuff is the things you might not normally pick. I got a raspberry donut & a matcha-raspberry muffin…I think I’m addicted. The atmosphere is chill, homey, and just so positive. I’ll be coming back often 🙂

Now under new ownership, and absolutely incredible. Highly recommend for vegans and nonvegans alike. My favorite items are the samosas and cinnamon rolls. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. A Bloomington staple.

I'm so glad we found this place, too bad it's not close to home. They had a wonderful selection of flavors so we had to get a dozen along with some of their other treats. Their cream pies were heavenly and HUGE! I will definitely return next time I'm in Bloomington.

Edit 2024: just went back today and this place was wonderful for so long, and this was our first time having a bad experience…. $7 for an oatmeal cream pie and got home….. no cream. My sons donut (not one of the day old’s) was so dense and crunchy he couldn’t eat it. I’m so sad, this has been our favorite place for so long…..

Original 2017 post: Service with smiling employees, amazing donuts, muffins, and cookies. My 6-year-old son and I frequent this bakery. It’s our go to place to a conversation and sweet treat. His favorite is the cinnamon sugar donut, mine is the gluten-free sweet pea. Thank House brew coffee is awesome and offer all kinds of alternative creamers and sweetness. Definitely relaxing, chill, and fun hang out spot with amazing art.

Wonderful, independent and locally owned Bakery. We love the gluten-free options as well as the vegan bakery Goods. The donuts were super light and fluffy, and gluten-free items were well priced and fresh! We love the old-school interior decor with the formica top kitchen tables for people to sit and have a nice hot cup of coffee. They had a great hot tea selection. I give the rainbow Bakery five stars!
