Colasanti’s Market – A True Oakland County Treasure

I’ve been coming to Colasanti’s Market since I was a kid, and let me tell you—it never gets old. Around Christmas time, the whole place transforms into what feels like a scene straight out of a Hallmark movie. The twinkling lights, cozy atmosphere, and hometown spirit make it a must-visit every holiday season.

But no matter the time of year, this market is top five in all of Oakland County—easily. The produce selection is unmatched, offering the freshest fruits and vegetables, including exotic finds from islands you probably didn’t even know existed. Their butcher shop is high quality, the bakery is unreal, and the fresh-squeezed orange juice? That’s my absolute favorite. One sip and I’m transported straight back to Europe—fresh, clean, and full of sunshine.

What really makes Colasanti’s special though is the experience. The greenery section is like a peaceful jungle tucked inside a market, and I’ve been known to stop by just to say hi to the birds in the back. It’s therapeutic.

And I can’t write this review without shouting out the amazing Denise Guckian—one of the kindest, hardest-working women you’ll meet. She’s always ready to help with a warm smile and a great attitude, making every visit feel personal and welcoming.

Colasanti’s isn’t just a store—it’s a tradition, a destination, and a reminder that some places still do it right.

An amazing unique place to visit/shop! You have to see it to believe it. They have a HUGE assortment of specialty gourmet foods and items not found in ANY grocery chain stores. Huge selection of Fresh made gourmet soups that would put the Soup Nazi to shame, countless deli items that are a completely different level for the Foodie to enjoy. The produce looks like they Cherry picked the best from a Farmer's market. The whole store looks like a showcase from MasterChef. You can't compare Colasanti's to anything else because there is nothing else like it.

They completely renovated their store and doubled their inventory and offerings. They were already a 10/10 before the renovations now they are something truly unique and in league of their own. Nothing else like them.

I love wide variety of options in this store. Get hungry? There’s a whole section of the store dedicated for you to chose what to eat quick. Honestly spent more time staring at their savory and sweet dishes than going through this store but I’m not complaining. The fresh press orange juice is a must get here.

I mean this when I say it, I don’t know if I’ve ever been in a better store in my life. I drive a good distance just to shop here. The new owners are super friendly and knowledgeable. They are one of the only distributors of Piedmontese beef in the metro Detroit area. They have great wine and bourbon selection. It’s clean. Dont get me started on the soups! Seriously it’s awesome. It seems like it’s something out of the 1920s general market store/hybrid of everything.

The selection and the staff make a stop in worth it! The pork chops and beef roast we purchased yesterday at Snooks were top notch! My husband was surprised at the quality of the meats when eating, as we recently moved from Europe and the quality of meats has been lacking for us. I was very pleased with the service I received from the butcher when purchasing. We will be back. Thanks!

A gem of a place! The food is delicious and Denise is incredible! I was able to set up a gift card account where my parents can order fresh food, have it delivered by their team (who can also watch out for anything that seems abnormal) and call me if they do. I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful market like this near my parents!

This place is great, the market has a lot of local goods (dairy, produce, meat, baked goods) they also have a large garden area as well as some entertaining birds to look at (parrots, peacocks and ducks) and a miniature Statue of Liberty.

Nice market with a great variety of meats, baked goods, fresh soups, and other pre-made meals. They have a great deli and produce selection, too! They also have a great selection of potted flowers and plants in their outside nursery.
